Rep. Zach Mako announced the awarding of nearly $450,000 in Local Share Account grants to projects in Northampton and Lehigh counties. The Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) allocated these funds, sourced from gaming revenues, to support economic development, job training, community improvement, and public interest initiatives as per Act 71 of 2004.
“I’m pleased to support these worthwhile projects that will benefit the community,” Mako stated. He emphasized the importance of first responders’ training, municipal equipment for maintaining public spaces, and preserving community history.
The grant recipients include East Allen Township with $292,283 to renovate the Dech House into a community historical center; Northampton Borough receiving $120,000 for a firefighter training prop; and North Whitehall Township awarded $30,000 for purchasing a tractor to assist with park maintenance.
Mako collaborated with Sen. Nick Miller on securing funding for the East Allen Township project. The 183rd District encompasses parts of both Lehigh and Northampton counties.
