Each day, I drive my daughter to school. When I drop her off, I have the joy of knowing that she is going to a school that will foster the skills she needs to thrive. As a working mom, I want what is best for her, and instead of being limited by proximity alone, we chose a school that met her interests and talents.
But school choice doesn’t just impact my daughter. Since President Donald Trump was elected, he championed the issue of school choice for families across the nation. The Trump administration has strongly advocated to allow more children to attend the school of their choice. When families have a say in their child’s education, students reap the rewards – especially in lower-income and minority communities.
Unfortunately, Joe Biden, as demonstrated by last night’s debate, is refusing to do the right thing. Instead of giving parents the ability to choose what is best for their children, Biden wants to give decision making power to unelected bureaucrats in Washington, D.C.
No parent should be forced to send their child to a failing school, and no parent should have to deny their child’s future because of financial shortfalls or legislative red-tape. As education is a pathway to a promising future, the Trump administration believes that school choice isn’t just an educational issue – it is a civil rights issue.
While President Trump is actively empowering parents to choose the best path for their children, Joe Biden is planning to destroy this progress. Although he sent his children to a ritzy private school, Biden has once again caved to the radical left. When it comes to America’s future, Biden would rather take an endorsement from a left-wing teachers’ union than advocate for their education.
In his own words, Biden said that charter schools would be “gone” if he were elected. Biden’s stance on school choice is not only hypocritical – it’s not based in fact. He has a long history of charged comments to charter schools, claiming that they “syphon money from our public schools.” Despite the outdated stance of the radical left, no child should be denied the right to a high-quality education because of their zip code.
Biden doubled down on his stance during the debate. Rather than fight for the rights of every child, Biden is fighting to fill the pockets of the big teachers’ unions that have endorsed him. He has refused to say what he would do to ensure that parents can send their children to the best schools possible so that they can receive the best education. It’s honestly a shame.
Every child has the right to receive the best education possible at any school their parents want to send them to. Rather than send their children to a school that fails them, parents want their children to go to schools that will prepare them for the real world and that will help them achieve the American dream. This is simply just something that Biden doesn’t understand. Meanwhile, President Trump has gone above and beyond what’s asked of him to give children the best education possible.
That’s why on Election Day, American parents not only have a choice for the president of the United States, but they also have a choice for their children’s future. When I drop my daughter off at school this fall, I don’t want to have any regrets about her education. Joe Biden would rather listen to the radical left than parents and children wanting opportunity. Thankfully, I know that President Trump will spend every day in the White House fighting for the future of our nation. This November, I’ll be voting for my daughter.
