FOIA Request Sent to Lehigh Township Police Pension Plan Regarding Employee and Retiree Pension Information on September 20, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Lehigh Township Police Pension Plan on September 20, 2024. The request, filed by the Lehigh Times, a media organization dedicated to comprehensive coverage of local governmental affairs, seeks detailed information about active and retired employees enrolled in the organization's pension fund for the year 2023.

In accordance with Pennsylvania's Right to Know Law, we at the Lehigh Times have requested electronic records detailing specific data fields. These include the last name, first name, middle name, date of birth, employer name, employment start and end dates for all active and retired employees under the pension plan.

Further information sought includes details about their salary, compensation type, amount received from the pension fund in 2023 and its disbursement frequency. The request also covers data related to each employee's contribution amount in 2023.

As journalists committed to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we believe access to these public records is crucial. We have therefore requested a fee waiver as a media professional engaged in disseminating this information to the public.

We await a response from the Lehigh Township Police Pension Plan regarding our request and will continue our efforts to provide accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
