State Senator Jarrett Coleman has announced that fire and emergency medical services (EMS) companies in the 16th Senatorial District will receive over $787,000 in state grants. The funds are part of a larger allocation of $37.6 million distributed to more than 2,500 fire and ambulance companies across Pennsylvania.

The Office of the State Fire Commissioner is responsible for awarding these grants. They can be utilized for various purposes, including construction or renovation of facilities, equipment purchase or repair, training, or debt reduction.

Senator Coleman highlighted the significance of these grants by stating, "Our emergency responders work so hard to serve Pennsylvania’s communities whenever there is a need. They do such a wonderful job that it’s easy to take them for granted." He emphasized the importance of acknowledging both their dedication and the financial costs involved in maintaining safety standards.

Eligibility for this funding extended to all fire companies, EMS units, and volunteer rescue squads within the state. The grant program is funded through state gaming proceeds and Fireworks Tax revenues rather than general fund tax revenue.
