St Elizabeth Catholic Church issued the following announcement on Sept. 29.

Dr. MaryAnn Rush Wallace has been hired as the director of athletics at Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC). Prior to LCCC, Rush Wallace worked as the coordinator of Athletic Programs at Penn State Lehigh Valley, where she was responsible for academics, compliance, retention, budgeting and transportation. One of her primary missions is to bolster academic excellence in addition to athletic achievement. During her time at PSULV, Rush Wallace implemented several strategies that increased student-athlete grade point averages to 3.26.

Rush Wallace has also worked at California University of Pennsylvania, Lehigh University and Ancilla College of Marian University in Donaldson, Ind., where she served as assistant sports information director, assistant to the athletic director and head cheer coach. She started the college's first cheer competition squad, which competed nationally. Rush Wallace’s student athletes participated in service projects, such as the Sojourner Truth House, an organization that aids homeless and at-risk women and their children.

Rush Wallace earned her bachelor’s degree in multidisciplinary studies from West Virginia University, where she participated in the NCAA Division I cheer team. She earned her master’s degree in exercise science from California University of Pennsylvania and her doctorate in education administration with a specialization in athletic administration from Northcentral University.

Rush Wallace lives in Saylorsburg with her husband and their two dogs.
