Isabella Rossellini leads a powerhouse cast in this winner of the 1998 Berlin Film Festival. Chaja, a Jewish philosophy student (Laura Fraser, ‘Breaking Bad’, 'Better Call Saul’) accepts a job as a nanny with a Hasidic Jewish family in 1970's Antwerp, Belgium. She has little knowledge and sympathy for their many centuries-old rules. Through her bond with the family's five-year old son, she learns to accept and respect a culture steeped in traditions, inspiring her to find the true values of life. Meanwhile, her father, Maximilian Schell, searches for suitcases he buried and left behind in Antwerp when fleeing the Nazis. Starring Isabella Rossellini, Maximilian Schell, Laura Fraser, Marianne Sägebrecht, Jeroen Krabbé, Topol, and David Bradley.
