The Cedar Crest College field hockey team was downed at King's College (Pa.), 3-0, on Thursday night at McCarthy Stadium. The win moves the Monarchs to 4-4 overall while the Falcons slip to 1-5 on the season.
King's tallied a pair of goals in the first half and one in the fourth quarter. Junior Abby Wolfe (Herndon, Pa.) put the Monarchs in front in the 12th minute while senior Sarah Zaleppa (Mountain Top, Pa.) scored on a penalty stroke in the 20th minute. First-year Emma Bealla (Kingston, Pa.) registered the final marker in the 57th minute for the 3-0 final.
King's outshot Cedar Crest 20-5 and had nine penalty corners to the Falcons' six.
Senior Ellie Glatz (Exeter, Pa.) converted three saves in goal for the Monarchs. First-year goalkeeper Kendall Heiney (Slatington, Pa./Northern Lehigh) made seven stops in her first collegiate start for the Falcons.
Cedar Crest will welcome in Wells College for its next contest on Saturday, September 24 at noon. The game marks Homecoming for the Falcons and will also be Senior Day as the program will celebrate its six seniors in a special pregame ceremony.
