Marone Sets Career Goals Record; Field Hockey Downs William Paterson

Senior Kiley Marone (Mohrsville, Pa. /Tulpehocken) set the program record for career goals scored as the Cedar Crest College field hockey team shut out William Paterson University, 4-0, in a non-conference tilt at the FalconPlex.  

Marone deposited her record-tying 48th career goal in the eighth minute to put the Falcons on the scoreboard for the lone marker of the first quarter.  

Marone went on to break the record in the second stanza when she found the back of the cage in the 18th minute. Junior Mira Carver (Lebanon, N.J./North Hunterdon) assisted on the tally.  

The senior padded the record and the lead for Cedar Crest in the 38th minute when she scored again, this time with the assist being credited to junior Adriana Hinkle (Palmerton, Pa./Homeschooled (played for Lehighton) ).  

Senior Morgan Frantz (Brodheadsville, Pa./Pleasant Valley) tallied the final goal for the Falcons to make it the 4-0 final. Classmate Amber Cieri (Slatington, Pa./Northern Lehigh) received the assist.  

Cedar Crest held a 14-9 advantage in shots while the Pioneers had 12 penalty corners to the Falcons' seven. 

First-year goalkeeper Kendall Heiney (Slatington, Pa./Northern Lehigh) made three saves in the win while sophomore Courtney Hartzel (York, Pa.) registered seven stops for William Paterson.  

Cedar Crest (7-8 overall) concludes the regular season on Saturday, October 29 with a conference contest at Sweet Briar College. Start time is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. William Paterson (3-8 overall) rounds out the regular season on Friday, October 28 at home against No. 11 Kean University at 6:00 p.m.
