Swimming Falls to Bryn Mawr, Lebanon Valley

The Cedar Crest College swimming and diving team lost a pair of non-conference contests on Saturday afternoon, falling to Bryn Mawr College and Lebanon Valley College. The Falcons were defeated by the Owls, 135-55, and were then topped by the Dutchmen in a 100-86 final.

Cedar Crest began the day with a fifth-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay. The team of senior Abbey Mower (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional), sophomore Taylor Davis (Wilmington, Del./Newark) (Wilmington, Del./Newark), senior Rachel Alulis, and junior Megan Fiedler (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge Senior) completed the event in 4:55.51.

First-years Alyssa Reinhart and Madison Smith took fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Reinhart had a time of 16:46.81 while Smith touched in 17:07.27.

Fiedler followed with a second-place slot in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing in 2:11.41. Senior Joslyn Schwieterman (Portland, Maine/Baxter Academy) also participated in the event and touched in 3:06.25.

Senior Zaria Berry (Maplewood, N.J./Columbia) along with Davis were the Falcon participants in the 50-yard freestyle. Berry was fourth (29.46) while Davis followed in seventh (30.41).

The next event was the 400-yard individual medley. Alulis was the lone student-athlete in the event for Cedar Crest and finished fourth (5:50.65).

Alulis and Berry were the two representatives for the Falcons in the 100-yard butterfly. Alulis was fifth in a time of 1:17.17 while Berry came in eighth (1:29.67).

Cedar Crest went three-four in the 100-yard freestyle. Fiedler finished in third with a time of 1:01.78 while Drum took fourth (1:04.88).

Mower and Berry were the pair for the Falcons in the 100-yard backstroke. Mower completed the event in 1:15.39 and Berry followed in 1:18.36.

Cedar Crest took fourth and fifth in the 500-yard freestyle. Drum was fourth (6:52.85) while sophomore Rebekah Carty (Quakertown, Pa./21st Century Cyber Charter) finished fifth (7:16.34).

Drum was the first Falcon to touch in the 100-yard breaststroke, taking third in a time of 1:22.83. Davis came in less than a second behind (1:25.50), finishing third.

The final event of the day was the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of Carty, Schwieterman, Reinhart, and Smith were third with a time of 2:26.79.

Cedar Crest will return to the pool at St. Joseph's University – Long Island on Saturday, January 7 at 1:00 p.m.
