Sen. Jarrett Coleman (R-16) announced today that $5.7 million in state funding has been allocated for a North Penn Water Authority water main project to connect the Salford Township and Sellersville systems.

"The commonwealth’s ability to provide low-interest loans for local infrastructure projects can help improve our communities while saving taxpayers money," Coleman stated. "By providing these important dollars, the state is acting as a financial partner and enabling this local authority to provide an essential service for community residents."

The North Penn Water Authority, which purchased the Sellersville water system, currently relies on interconnections with Hilltown Water and Sewer Authority and Telford Water Authority to serve the area. The existing system has been deemed inefficient and inadequate, resulting in substandard water pressure.

The West Rockhill water transmission main project in West Rockhill Township, Bucks County, aims to extend the North Penn Water Authority transmission main from its Salford Township system and connect it directly to its Sellersville system. This connection is expected to enhance reliability by providing a seamless link between the two systems.

The project is estimated at $5.7 million, funded through a low-interest, 20-year loan from the state. The interest rate will be 1.743% for the first five years, increasing to 2.179% in year six until the loan is fully repaid.

Construction is scheduled to begin in September and is projected to be completed by the end of March 2025.

Funding for this initiative comes from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST), an independent state agency that offers financial assistance for sewer, stormwater, and drinking water projects across Pennsylvania.
