FOIA Request Sent to Allentown Firemen's Pension Fund Regarding Employee and Retiree Information on September 20, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Allentown Firemen's Pension Fund on September 20, 2024. The request, made by us at Lehigh Times, sought detailed information about the active and retired employees included in the organization's pension fund for the year 2023.

In our quest to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we requested specific data fields under the Pennsylvania Right to Know Law. These fields include last name, first name, middle name, date of birth, employer name, employment start date, employment end date, salary, compensation type, amount received from the pension fund, year of disbursement, process date of disbursement, last disbursement amount received by each employee or retiree from the pension fund, disbursement frequency and contribution amount for the year 2023.

We believe that access to public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. This includes holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information as a media organization committed to covering local government affairs extensively and accurately, we have requested a fee waiver as a media professional.

As always, we are dedicated to providing our readers with up-to-date information regarding local governmental affairs. We look forward to sharing more insights once this information is made available.
