A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Lehigh County Election Department regarding the upcoming spring election candidates on February 5, 2025.
As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Lehigh Times requested a list of all candidates running in the upcoming election under the Pennsylvania Right to Know Law, 65 §66.1 et seq. The information sought includes the candidates' full names, the offices they are running for, their jurisdiction, and party affiliation.
In addition to this, we also requested all contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.
As a media organization, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. We believe that given our role in disseminating information, we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
