Cedar Crest College Athletics issued the following announcement on Sept. 13.
For the second straight week, sophomore Ava Grapsy (Macungie, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) and graduate student Tiffany Hoppes (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) have been recognized by the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Grapsy registered triple-doubles in all four matches for the Falcons at the Buttermaker Tournament at Muhlenberg. She opened the tournament with 10 kills, 13 assists and 11 digs in a loss to Muhlenberg. Grapsy followed that performance with 14 kills, 14 assists, and 12 digs in a four-set setback to Gallaudet. On the final day of the tournament, she put up 15 kills, 20 assists, and 15 digs in a loss to Pitt-Bradford. In the final match of the tournament, Grapsy put up a stat line of 14 kills, 15 assists, and 23 digs in a 3-1 victory over Penn State Abington.
Hoppes was named to the Buttermaker Tournament All-Tournament Team after she recorded 115 digs in four matches, led by a week-high 36 in a 3-1 victory over Penn State Abington.
Grapsy, Hoppes, and Cedar Crest (4-3 overall) will return to the court on Tuesday, September 14 against Ursinus College for its home opener at 7:00 p.m.
