Cedar Crest College Athletics recently issued the following announcement.
The Cedar Crest College soccer team took care of Penn State Scranton by a final score of 7-1 in non-conference play. With the win, the Falcons moved to 2-0-1 on the season while the Nittany Lions slip to 1-2.
"Our focus for today's game was keeping possession, and we did just that," said Head Coach Sarah Wolcott. "We had the chance to try a lot of people in different positions, and it was a great opportunity to really see what everyone could do. I'm happy with our total effort."
Cedar Crest had six different goal scorers, led by freshman Rebecca Verdi (Crownsville, Md./Old Mill) with two. Graduate student Erika D'Angelo (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial), freshman Abril Riley (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman), graduate student Adrianna Tennis (Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove), senior Brittany Dunleavy, and freshman Aurora Odell (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) each had one to round out the scoring.
The Falcons dominated the shot category, 36-1 and had a deciding advantage in corner kicks, 9-1.
Cedar Crest will round out a three-match road trip on Saturday, September 18 at John Jay College. Start time is set for noon.
