Lehigh Career and Technical Institute issued the following announcement on Sept. 7.
Lehigh Career & Technical Institute alumna Paige Knowles wrote and illustrated a children’s book called “Plumber Paige: Let’s Replace a Shower Head.”
Drawing on Paige’s personal knowledge and experience, the book tells the story of a young, female plumber named Paige who changes the showerhead in a customer’s home. The book includes step-by-step instructions for getting the job done, as well as handy tips like “Lefty loosey, righty tighty.”
She dedicated the book to her parents for “encouraging me to believe in myself and do great things.”
Paige, who graduated from Parkland High School and completed LCTI’s Plumbing & Heating program in 2020, is a staunch advocate for the construction trades. She is committed to helping more girls get on construction career paths through speaking engagements and her relationship with Let’s Build Construction Camp for Girls.
Paige, 19, is working in the construction trades while she studies Construction Management at Lehigh Carbon Community College. Her book is available for sale on Amazon. To learn more about what it’s like to be a woman working in the construction trades, follow Paige on Instagram or on YouTube.
