Soccer Cruises Past Penn State Mont Alto

The Cedar Crest College soccer team cruised to an 8-0 win over Penn State Mont Alto on Saturday afternoon in non-conference play at the FalconPlex. The win pushes the Falcons to 2-0-0 overall while the Nittany Lions slip to 0-1-0 overall.

Cedar Crest controlled play from start to finish, outshooting Penn State Mont Alto, 35-0.

Senior Taylor Wolf (Townsend, Del./Middletown) led the way again with her second hat trick in as many games, followed by sophomore Kayla Reiter (Fogelsville, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh) with two goals , while graduate student Ashley Whittaker (Huntersville, N.C. /Hopewell ), sophomore Linsey Nester (Mohrsville, Pa./Hamburg), and first-year Brielle Davies (Catasauqua, Pa. /Catasauqua) rounded out the scoring with one goal each.

The Falcons got out to a 5-0 lead in the first 45 minutes. Whittaker got things started in the 15th minute with a marker off an assist from Nester. Wolf netted the next two, followed by two straight from Reiter for the 5-0 advantage.

Wolf completed the hat trick in the 53rd minute to make it 6-0. Nester's tally in the 54th minute and Davies' in the 55th minute gave the Falcons the 8-0 lead, the eventual final.

First-year Bella Bozen (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) was credited with the win in goal after playing the opening half. Classmate Maddie Kantawala (Havertown, Pa. /Haverford ) played the second half and didn't allow a shot on goal.

Cedar Crest (2-0-0 overall) continues its homestand on Wednesday, September 7 against Ramapo College at 6:00 p.m. Penn State Mont Alto (0-1-0) will stay on the road for a match at Montgomery College (Md.) on Tuesday, September 6 at 7:00 p.m.
