Basketball Edges Penn. State-Berks to Open Home Slate

Cedar Crest College Athletics  issued the following announcement on Nov. 12.

 The Cedar Crest College basketball team defeated non-conference Penn. State-Berks 53-50 on Friday night at Lees Gymnasium.

In the first quarter, the Falcons battled the Nittany Lions and went point-for-point, but Penn. State-Berks came up with the 11-10 win. Going into halftime, Cedar Crest led 23-16.

The Falcons came out strong In the third quarter, outscoring PSB, 20-9. The Nittany Lions edged the home squad, 18-17, in the final frame, but Cedar Crest came away with the three-point win.  

Junior Ashley Wilson (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic) had a team-high of 19 points, while adding four rebounds and a steal. Classmate Megan Peifer (Weatherly, Pa./Weatherly) joined Wilson in double figures with 15 points. Junior Kelly Reid (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) followed with eight points.

Cedar Crest (1-1 overall) continue its season-long five-game homestand on Tuesday, November 16 when the Falcons host Clarks Summit University for the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opener. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
